Hey! Who turned off the fun switch? Can you believe we’re already halfway through January? Somehow, to me, it feels like more has happened in these 16 days than in the entirety of last year. How’s the year treating you so far? Whatever it’s been like, let’s take a moment to frame it positively—because a hopeful perspective can make all the difference.
 
But before we dive into all the exciting updates, we need to acknowledge something heavier. The recent wildfires have brought unimaginable devastation to our Los Angeles community. As an LA-based company, this hits incredibly close to home. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we’re committed to doing our part in helping our community rebuild stronger than ever.
 
If you’ve been personally impacted and need help finding resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’ll do everything I can to help connect you with the support you need. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply offering support to those around us, let’s come together and keep that sense of unity alive.
 
Being part of a community means showing up for each other, especially during hard times. Even small acts of kindness—checking in on someone, sharing helpful resources, or simply being a listening ear—can create a ripple effect of positivity. Community always moves faster than anything else, and together, we’re unstoppable.
 
So here’s a challenge for the next two weeks: do something kind for someone. Maybe it’s holding the door open, surprising a loved one with a meal, or sending a quick text to let someone know you’re thinking of them. Small gestures go a long way.

We’re closely monitoring the upcoming TikTok ban set to take effect on January 19th. At this time:

• TikTok-related challenges will remain active.
• We’ll observe how the ban unfolds and assess TikTok’s functionality over time.
• If the platform becomes non-functional, we’ll disable the integration and remove all TikTok-related challenges.

This week, we’re thrilled to introduce Sonja, an incredibly skilled artist at Bullseye Tattoos in Staten Island, NY. Sonja’s path to becoming a tattoo artist is nothing short of inspiring.
"I wanted to be a tattoo artist since I was 16," Sonja shares. "For so long I had no luck, until I was 19 years old. I applied to be an apprentice at Bullseye Tattoo Shop, and from there, I finally got my apprenticeship and got to work." After two years of intense learning, Sonja became a full-time artist, and over 11 years later, she’s still passionately working at the same shop.
 
With a focus on realism and neo-traditional styles, Sonja has carved out a unique niche for herself in the tattoo world. "A lot of my artwork is based off of animals," she says. "I specialize in mainly pet portraits, but I’m always looking to tattoo more wildlife." Her love for animals translates directly into her tattoo work, and she even combines her passion with photography, taking her own reference photos to create detailed and personalized designs.
 
When asked what she loves most about tattooing, Sonja doesn’t hesitate: "There are so many great things about tattooing—traveling, having a creative job, meeting amazing people—but you wouldn’t have any of those without having a love for the actual art of tattooing."
 
Mad Rabbit products are a part of Sonja's everyday toolkit. "My personal favorite would have to be the Tattoo Balm," she says. "It’s a versatile balm, that you can use for so much more than just tattoos. I get such dry skin in the winter, and this balm has helped me more than anything else. Just a little bit on a patch of dry skin helps dramatically. I use it on my hands, parts of my face, and even a little on my lips when my skin is dry in the winter. I really swear by this stuff!"
 
Outside of tattooing, Sonja has a variety of interests. "I try to catch up on my artwork, even just drawing for fun," she says. "Being a bit of a nerd, I also enjoy playing some video games, mainly Pokémon and Red Dead Redemption 2. I also love reading books, reading comics, and watching movies and documentaries across all different genres."
